There is a saying we sometimes hear: “They don’t make things like that anymore.” Sometimes it refers to a car or a household appliance. Other times it may refer to a hammer or a handcrafted cup. The idea is that the item is designed to stand the test of time. Truth be told, most of us would rather use something that we know we can trust versus something that hasn’t been tested. Jesus’s words should be treated as something that we know can carry all that we need. They are true, and they are trustworthy.
