We all have different ideas about how to interpret art. Many types of expression exist, so it’s difficult to keep up with the reasonings and purpose. Think about the different pictures children draw and present to parents. “What have you done here?” is a statement that is just a kind way for parents to say, “Explain yourself.” Consider the number of times you’ve heard a song and wondered, “What does this mean?” Maybe you decided for yourself what it meant, and then one day you read an article or saw an interview and realized you were way off. Sometimes we are reminded that God’s work among us—seen most evidently in creation—is the handiwork of a great artist. The greatest picture of the person of God showed up in Jesus, who literally brought the art of God to life.
