Despairing that death and evil have won is as incongruous as this scenario: “They’re too big, fast, and strong!” complained John. He was convinced that his team could not win the game. Everyone else on the bench was deeply confused by his statement. “John, we’re up by twenty with one second left. We won!” they exclaimed. Suddenly, John realized they were right. Their opponents had been defeated. As Christians, we may think death is a formidable foe, but Jesus has already defeated it.
