Some other religions—namely, Islam and Judaism—claim Jesus as a prophet. The general idea is that, yes, he was a moral teacher and a prophet, but he was not the Son of God. Other offshoots of Christianity might say the same. The problem is clear, though. Christ cannot be a moral teacher and a prophet, while claiming to be divine, if he is not the Son of God. To claim divinity while being devoid of it, is to be delusional or a liar. C. S. Lewis famously articulated this contradiction in what is commonly referred to has his “Lord, Liar, or Lunatic” argument. Either Christ was exactly who he claimed to be or he is a liar or a crazy person. But he cannot be a moral teacher and a prophet without being exactly what he claimed to be, which is the Son of God and God himself.
