Locker Room For Jesus

The Ohio State football team garnered national attention in their 2024 fall season by leading Christian revival on their campus. While many undergraduate players worship God with their team, the OSU football team was unique in taking the worship to the larger campus community. Said one onlooker, “It was like a locker room, but for Jesus” (Allie Vugrincic, “Ohio State University Football Players Are Leading a Religious Revival on Campus,” NPR, December 11, 2024 https://www.npr.org/2024/12/11/nx-s1-5213724/ohio-state-university-football-players-are-leading-a-religious-revival). Given the popularity of the football team and concerns that these displays might cause discomfort to students of other faiths, the university’s administration appropriately took steps to make sure that all religious traditions were welcome. Meanwhile, the Christian football players leading the worship service believed that the popularity of their gatherings was God’s work. God was praised, and members of the university community drew closer together.
