For many, the language of “lost” and “found” in these three parables will call to mind the words of the most well-known of all hymns, “Amazing Grace,” with its line, “I once was lost, but now am found.” Chris Tomlin’s 2003 arrangement, “Amazing Grace / My Chains Are Gone,” is popular as well. Both the hymn and the praise song draw the parallel of being found with salvation in Christ, and both celebrate God’s sovereignty. The original sixth verse, which had been removed from most hymnals, is restored in Tomlin’s arrangement:
