Is it possible for a gift to cost nothing? A hug, a smile, an invitation to go for a walk … these things don’t have financial price tags, but they do cost us something, even if very little. This mystery about Jesus offering us salvation without condemnation does not mean it’s free for either us or Jesus. Jesus paid a great debt for us. We walk away from the sin that ensnares us.
