Rewards as Motivation

Every parent uses this technique—and if you aren’t a parent, you probably remember your parents using it on you. They motivate a child by telling them there is a reward at the end. They describe the reward as something the kid deeply wants. They assure the child that the reward is already there, but the only way to get the prize is to finish the task. What happens? It changes the child’s attitude. The child is so excited about the future reward that they engage with the present differently. When we think about what God has in store for us after death, we must change the way we live in the present.
