Have you ever known someone who loved rules? That type of person can be somewhat annoying—until you find yourself in a critical situation where the rules matter. Imagine you are scuba diving. You would want someone who knows the rules inside and out, and you would make every effort to learn from them as quickly as you can. The psalmist delights in God’s teaching because he knows it is the difference between life and death.
