It is amazing when people see a quality in someone else that others cannot. Consider the coaches who have seen the potential for greatness in a player. Perhaps the player had been playing running back or receiver, but a coach saw the potential of a linebacker or safety. What about the employer who catches an employee being gracious to a customer? As she watches, she sees how the employee takes the time and listens to each question, waits patiently, and then offers a solution. Maybe the employer is amazed because the employee’s normal position doesn’t have them interacting this way. The employer begins to see what is possible and approaches the person about a change in what the employee has been hired to do.
