Anyone who has been sick knows that until you figure out what’s going on with your body, you can’t determine the right medicine to get you back on track. To overcome sickness, we must first treat the ailment; then the body can recover. When a person suffers an injury—such as a broken bone, torn ACL, or even a twisted ankle—the depth of the injury must be determined before a restorative procedure can occur. After surgery or other action, the injury can be addressed with both therapy and practice, leading to full healing. When a person comes to Christ, it must be with the goal of addressing the sickness, not just the symptoms. When Jesus is accepted as Lord, a person is restored to a right relationship. Once restored, the person must undergo a transformation into the person God initially built them to be—a return to the way we were meant to be.
