The Purpose in Failure

Near the end of Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith (directed by George Lucas, 20th Century Fox, 2005, 1:56:26–1:56:53), we see the exile of Yoda that was established in the original trilogy. After failing to complete his mission, he says, “Into exile I must go. Failed I have.” Feeling the weight of his failure, Yoda sends himself away. Yet, in his exile, he is not devoid of purpose. He continues to train and grow in his greater purpose. Eventually, he finds ways to contribute to the undoing of his failures that sent him into exile. Though he was scattered, far from home, he was still imbued with purpose.
