Could you imagine being lost at sea? The waves toss your boat back and forth, and as you try to grasp where you are, you realize that you can’t find any markers to help you. The water is constantly changing. However, you remember that sailors for generations have used one of the only constant things you can see: the stars. They would observe the North Star and other various constellations, similar to the wave finders we see in the movie Moana (directed by Ron Clements and John Musker [Walt Disney Pictures, 2016]). Those constant benchmarks would guide sailors home. In an ever-changing world, it is hard to find something constant, stable, and faithful. But for Christians the one constant thing in our lives is God.
