In The Princess Bride (directed by Rob Reiner [Twentieth Century Fox, 1987]), Iñigo Montoya has dedicated his entire life to getting revenge on the six-fingered man, Count Rugen, who killed his father. When he finally gets his opportunity for vengeance, the climactic scene ends with Montoya demanding that Count Rugen give back his father, which is the one thing Count Rugen can’t give him. Montoya then kills him. Montoya’s vengeance is complete but ultimately unsatisfying (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I73sP93-0xA). God alone provides perfect vengeance. (This scene contains a swear word at the pivotal moment.)
