In the 2016 Southern Baptist Convention, Southern Baptists passed a resolution calling for Christians to stop displaying the Confederate Flag so as to be sensitive to brothers and sisters of color and to bring further unity to the Body of Christ.
Within the resolution is an implicit apology for the many years in which Confederate Flags have been flown in churches without any public rebuke. It is never too late to repent and turn away from sin, as well as making sure every church is welcoming to all people of all backgrounds.
