Grateful to Repent

It can be frustrating or embarrassing to be called out for a mistake (or a deliberate action) by others. When our parents or teachers correct us after we disobey them or disregard our house or school rules, we might feel angry or resentful. But when we remember that these rules are designed to keep us safe and that the real purpose for correction is to help us make better choices in the future (and so that we won’t be called out again), we can be grateful that our parents and teachers care enough about us to warn us when we’re behaving in a way that’s harmful to ourselves or others. Repentance allows us to be humble enough to be teachable so we can grow in our physical and spiritual life.
