Appearances

Clean-Living-Room

To illustrate the nature of hypocrisy, consider the following scenario: When you have special guests over to your home for dinner or a game night, you usually feel the need to clean your house. In some instances, if you are running short on time, you might sweep the dirt under the rugs, shove things into the closet, push your crumbs under the couch, and throw all the extra clutter into your bedroom. This can create an appearance of cleanliness—but really, your house is a mess! The same was true for the Pharisees. Though they appeared pure and clean, they were quite messy and unclean.
