Be Kind Rewind (directed by Michel Gondry [New Line Cinema, 2008])is the silly story of two clerks in a video rental store who accidentally erase all the footage on all of the movies. They start trying to recreate and film the movies for the people wanting to rent them. As the movie progresses, more and more of the customers join in the endeavor of filming the movies until it becomes a production involving everyone. It’s a powerful illustration of both the comfort that can come from being a part of something larger than yourself and the power of a community working together.
