Since the late 1990s, 9Marks has been committed to connecting believers with healthy local churches that are centered around the gospel. Their web site is a wealth of resources about the local church, books that build up the church, and other helpful links, including a “map” of churches around the country for believers seeking a new home church. The ministry began when pastor Mark Dever wrote Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, a book outlining the healthy traits of a thriving church.
While there is plenty of room to disagree about what makes a healthy church, ministries like 9Marks are clearly devoted to building up the local church and equipping its pastors and congregations to share the gospel with anyone seeking to know more about Jesus.
