Built to Endure

Anything built to endure is not built that way on accident. Engineers, inventors, and fabricators do not generally give objects a robust and durable design on a whim. Rather, they have identified a need and then a solution. Solutions are not made for nonexistent problems. A child’s small, battery-powered plastic vehicle is not equipped with airbags. Likewise, no motor vehicle that we call “safe” is produced without airbags. We wouldn’t, then, take our child’s plastic car for a spin out on the highway. The point is this: when we are “in the rain” in our lives, we are in circumstances that God knew about beforehand. Houses built on bedrock are not done so in case it rains; they are built that way knowing that it will rain.
