Imagine being walked into an exam room at your doctor’s office by someone wearing scrubs, carrying a clipboard, and using the correct rhetoric as they walk you back. They’re doing all the necessary things that a nurse does, but as soon as you start asking questions, they begin to falter. As you ask them what’s going on, you realize they aren’t really a nurse. They’re a high school biology student, going through the motions. They put on a facade to come across as a “nurse,” but they internally are not truly a nurse. In a similar way, we can put on a facade by seeming repentant, but God truly knows the heart.
