Despair Into Hope

In movies and literature, the main characters often face dark times and difficult circumstances. When the situation seems hopeless, something happens to turn their despair into hope. A good example would be when the portals open and the heroes arrive before the final battle scene in Avengers: Endgame (directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo [Marvel Studios, 2019], 2:16).
