In The Divine Conspiracy, Dallas Willard ends the book by pointing forward. Christians must be future focused, not on ten or twenty years from now when our finances are better or our health has improved, but on the future when we go to the New Jerusalem and live with God. An eternal outlook can change our relationship to the present (Dallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy [San Francisco: HarperCollins, 2009]). David anticipates one day seeing his child and can therefore, continue with his life in the present.
