Many of us are dealing with insecurities. Maybe God is calling you to something and you’re afraid. It’s okay to be fearful. But ultimately and eventually, we must come to realize that God is behind us and is there to encourage us in what he has called us to. One Bible student said, “Fear is the parent of every kind of vice; fear of conflict, fear of shame, fear of failure, fear that God will leave fidelity unrewarded and prayer unanswered” (H. D. M. Spence-Jones, ed., Joshua, The Pulpit Commentary [London: Funk & Wagnalls Company, 1909], 13). While our minds and feelings tell us one thing, we must rely on the fact that God has called us to this new change; therefore, we must trust that he’ll empower us to fulfill it.
