If you’ve ever planted a garden, then you know the time and energy that is required to have the best chance of harvesting a good return. No matter what energy you put into the initial setup, however, the ongoing work that’s required means you will be attentive to all the details. You must keep watch for weeds, creatures, weather, and other factors. In addition, you must be mindful of the change in seasons and keep your eyes on the garden if you hope to see a good return. If you take the time, and to the extent that weather cooperates, you will reap your intended crop. Our minds are the same. We may start with a great space, but we can’t just casually hope that it will always produce what we hope. Instead, we must focus our energies on the right things to produce what God wants for us.
