The gospel goes beyond individuals being saved from their sins and going to heaven after they die. The gospel involves the full scope of redemption for God’s creation. God’s good created world and the people in it rebelled and brought sin into the world, and God has been working to redeem that world through his Son, Jesus. The redemption found in the gospel is a process woven throughout the Bible. However, studying God’s plan of redemption is like looking at the ground from a plane. You see everything from thirty thousand feet—shapes of the landscape but not all the intricate details. The gospel is centered on Jesus, who is central to the redemption narrative in the Bible and all of human history.
