The hard fact of sanctification is that everyone has to grow and change. Sometimes we don’t see the growth we expect. However, spiritual growth in the Bible is many times equated to agriculture (Mark 4:1–20). Plants go through seasons when growth is more noticeable than others. Even in the wintertime, plants are still doing work that will lead to their growth. Plants can grow in the harshest of conditions. Thirty years after fires ravaged Yellowstone National Park, new vegetation and wildlife grow. New tree growth appeared where it hadn’t been before. The ashes of the fire created the perfect ground for new growth and the park would not have seen its current vegetation if the fire had not happened (Eric Whitney, “Areas That Burned In 1988 Yellowstone Megafires Now Back in Play,” Montana Public Radio, July 29, 2018).
