Led Not Into Temptation

How would you feel if your personal trainer, who is supposed to hold you accountable to your health goals, began to tempt you with cake and sweets—bringing cake to your house, asking if you would like a piece after you have refused, etc? It is expected that friends and family would try to tempt you, but it is almost silly to imagine your trainer doing so. It doesn’t make sense. In the same way, God knows what’s best for us and He will not tempt you in the same way your friend in the cake scenario would; to do so would be against his character. Thomas Constable rightly points out that “God Himself is not even subject to temptation (‘cannot be tempted by evil’), because He is totally separate from sin and not susceptible to evil…”
