Limiting Decisions

Design fatigue can be minimized by developing the habit of limiting how many decisions you must make on any given day, such as what to wear. Many successful people eliminate unnecessary decisions by making the choice once and sticking with it. Steve Jobs, President Obama, and Alfred Einstein were known for wearing the same or a very similar outfit every day for the purpose of saving brainpower for more important decisions. “Researchers have actually studied the effect that making too many decisions can have on our lives. And what studies consistently show is that our capacity to consistently make well thought out decisions is finite” (Vincent Carlos, “Why Successful People Wear the Same Thing Every Day,” October 31, 2019, https://medium.com/swlh/why-successful-people-wear-the-same-thing-every-day-308387470171).
