Anxiety is the ability to see all the possible negative outcomes. It is driven by fear. The movie Inside Out (directed by Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, 2015) shows an example of the power of how anxiety works. Before Riley’s first day at a new school, her emotions, led by Joy, want to create a positive day. To keep the other emotions occupied, Joy instructs Fear to make a list of all the possible negative things that could happen: Fear, being the emotion that he is, states, “Way ahead of you there. Does anyone know how to spell ‘meteor’?”
