For centuries lighthouses have been beacons of hope for seafarers. Trusting God is much like trusting the beckoning light of the lighthouse—a hope amid darkness and storm. In Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem “The Lighthouse,” the poet compares the lighthouse to biblical imagery: “The Lighthouse lifts its massive masonry, / A pillar of fire by night, of cloud by day” (https://www.hwlongfellow.org/poems_poem.php?pid=116).
