A great illustration of sacrificial love for the Trinity and the Son of God is in Avengers: Endgame. At the end of the movie, Tony Stark steals the Infinity Stones from Thanos. With one snap of his finger, he undoes the damage Thanos caused and ends his evil quest. But the act of restoring life causes him to lose his own life (directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo [Walt Disney Studios, 2019]). It’s an act of sacrificial love that reminds us that God the Father, in his faithfulness to his plan of redemption, sent his Son to die so that we could be restored to abundant life with God and through his Spirit.
