The Kingdom Of God

Imagine the coming birth of a child. Before the child is born, we cannot see or hold the child, yet it is alive. Its heart beats, and physically speaking, wherever the pregnant mother goes, the baby also goes. The baby is present, it exists, but the earthly life of that baby has not started. The baby is hoped for, she is anticipated, and spaces are prepared for her. She is known and is not known. She is present and is not yet present. So it is with the kingdom of God. Jesus brought it down with him through his life on earth, but we are still preparing a space for it among us.
