In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the elf servant Dobbie is sorely mistreated by his master Lucius Malfoy. Despite how poorly he is treated, he tries to help Harry and save his life. The suffering he endures does not stop him from doing what is right (J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets [London: Bloomsbury, 1998]). When Jesus was fasting in the wilderness, the devil tried to convince Jesus not to suffer starvation. The devil also tried to get Jesus to accept the glory of earthly power. Jesus rejected both offers because of his path as the Suffering Servant. (Luke 4:1-13). Jesus suffered for our sake and in doing so was obedient to God.
