We must not give up or stop praying. There is a pastor who, rightly or wrongly, would pray regularly that attendance on Sunday would break the one-hundred mark. One morning he got up and saw it was snowing. Immediately his spirits sank, as he just knew this would hurt attendance. But suddenly, he felt the Spirit bringing this parable to mind. He began to pray and did not stop all morning. That Sunday attendance finally broke the one-hundred mark. God’s response to our prayers will not always be immediate—or the response we want. We must stay hopeful and keep praying for his will. When all hope seemed lost, Jesus was able to confidently pray that God’s mission of forgiving our sins would be accomplished (Luke 23:34). He can empower us to trust God in prayer too.
