Regular physical activity is vital for long-term health. According to the World Health Organization, “Physical inactivity is one of the leading risk factors for noncommunicable diseases mortality. People who are insufficiently active have a 20% to 30% increased risk of death compared to people who are sufficiently active.” Further, exercise can “improve mental health, quality of life and well-being” (“Physical Activity,” World Health Organization, November 26, 2020, https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/physical-activity). Likewise, if we neglect to read and meditate on the Scriptures regularly, we can become unhealthy spiritually.
