What Rules?

If you have small children, you know that disciplining them can be exasperating. You explain the rules to them. When they violate one of the rules, you give them a warning. When they break the rules again, you start handing out consequences. Suddenly, they are shocked. They look at you as if they have never heard of these rules and consequences before. Imagine what God must have felt like while dealing with the Israelites. Imagine what he must feel like while dealing with us. Praise God for his patience and mercy.
