You Can’t Miss It!

Have you ever had someone give you directions? They tell you to take some lefts and rights and to keep going until you see that sign on the side of the road. They’ll often finish with something like, “You can’t miss it!” Trying to follow verbal directions can be a frustrating experience for those of us who are used to smartphones. If the person knows what they’re talking about, however, they end up being right. You follow their directions until you come up to the road sign, and you know there is no way you could have missed it. Simeon seems to have had that experience when he met baby Jesus. The Holy Spirit told him that he would see the Messiah. When he saw Jesus’s family, he couldn’t miss him. May we be the same when we look for an encounter with God. May we not be able to miss what he is doing in our lives!
