The Worst Shot in the Game

If you’ve ever played basketball, then you know you are only meant to score on one half of the court at any given time. But did you know that if you accidentally score in the wrong basket, the other team gets the points? It’s entirely possible to mistakenly and directly help the other team win. Not only are you not helping your own score, but you’re also adding to the other team’s score! It’s the worst shot in basketball. Serving the flesh’s desires is a lot like this. When we satisfy the desires of the flesh, we’re actively working against God’s will. Since the two wills are directly opposed, as we see in this passage (v. 17), you’re always helping one team or the other.
