Tools

At some point or another, all of us have used a tool of some sort. Maybe it’s the classic hammer, screwdriver, or drill. Or maybe it was less obvious—a makeup brush, a remote, something to extend our reach to close a door or hit a light switch when we’re feeling lazy. Tool use generally separates humans from nonsentient species. It’s actually one of the primary markers of intelligence in animals. In this way, tools and humans are linked. It’s part of what makes us who we are. As such, we understand that tools are tools, neither good nor bad on their own. Each has generally the same range of potential for help or harm. Digital technology is no exception.
