The bubble gum scene from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (directed by Mel Stuart [Paramount Pictures, 1971]) provides a great analogy for Philippians 3:12–21 where Paul writes about people headed towards destruction. He says ‘their god is their stomach, their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.’ Much like the the young in Willy Wonka who ravenously snaps up the bubble gum because of her desire for food. Little does she know, her gluttonous action will cost her the chance to win a lifetime supply of chocolate (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Yqw_f26SvM).
