Act of Generosity

Using our treasures to bless others is a critical way of learning how to measure the worth of God’s treasure to us. When we are looking to invest in eternal treasures, we have to invest in people. A great example of generosity toward others is actor Keanu Reeves. He finds different ways to bless the people that he is connected to in the movie industry—not just actors and actresses but many others involved in ensuring the movie comes together. Most recently, following the premiere of the latest installment to the Matrix franchise, Reeves flew numerous members of the film team in for the premiere. The director of the John Wick films said, “He flew a bunch of us up here. … He’s incredibly generous. In the audience tonight will be so many people that helped him, from his martial art trainers to jiu-jitsu trainers to hair and makeup to his stunt crew. He makes sure that his friends and family are here. He’s epic.” Instead of drawing attention to himself for the gesture, Reeves said, “Yeah, it’s great to be able to share our experiences and lives together.” Using our treasures to bless others is the most obvious indicator of knowing the difference between having treasure and knowing how to treasure people (Chris Gardner, “Keanu Reeves’ Latest Act of Generosity: Treating Friends, Family and Co-Workers to San Fran Getaway for ‘Matrix’ Premiere,” Hollywood Reporter, January 8, 2022, https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/keanu-reeves-matrix-gifts-generosity-premiere-1235069445/).
