Is the bird still a bird even if it hasn’t flown yet? Yes. The baby bird is learning to fly. But the bird has to intentionally leave the nest and learn to fly. We are children of God, disciples of Jesus, Christians. We are learning to become more like Christ. We aren’t people trying to act like Christians. We are people becoming more like Christ, just as the baby bird must imitate its mother, living out its identity as a bird and taking flight.
