One of Shauna Niequist’s books is called Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living. She seeks to work through her need for over-achievement as a means towards acceptance from people and from God. In an interview by Christianity Today, she was asked, “What’s the spiritual analogue to what you’re talking about? How does performance pressure impact our faith lives and the faith lives of our kids?”
May we be Christians that are filled with such grace towards others while not wavering from the truth of the gospel, that people can feel safe sharing their struggles with us without fear of judgment.
