“Every Day Is Exactly the Same”

In the Nine Inch Nails song “Every Day Is Exactly the Same,” Trent Reznor describes his struggle of life, saying, “I believe I can see the future / because I repeat the same routine.” Reznor also wonders if he used to have purpose, but he thinks maybe he’s just imagining that he did. The writer of Ecclesiastes would agree with Reznor’s melancholy view of life as an ongoing repetition of the same thing.
