In an interview with Christianity Today, Kate Grosmaire describes how she and her husband went through the process of forgiving their teen daughter’s murderer, her boyfriend. They also went through a restorative justice process with him, determining his prison sentence and advocating for the same kind of sentencing across the justice system. Here is one of her responses:
“‘How did your understanding of God change after Ann’s death?’
‘I considered how powerful God is and how amazing his grace is in our life that he could allow me to forgive Conor and live at peace with regards to what happened.’”
God is so good that he can change our hearts towards those who do evil to us, and, when we sinned against him, he sent his son to pave the way for the forgiveness of our sins.
