Jesus says, “But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind” (14:13). Invite people, then, who normally are not invited to parties. Invite people who cannot pay you back. What Jesus is describing is similar to what Meir Kalmanson did in 2017 after meeting a homeless man in New York. Inspired by the connection with this man, he decided to throw a Super Bowl party for the homeless. He filmed it and put it on YouTube, and three years later, there were at least twenty such parties all over the country (Lauren Lee, “A Man Randomly Threw a Superbowl Party for the Homeless. 3 Years Later, He’s Hosting 20 across the US,” CNN, February 3, 2020, https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/31/us/super-bowl-parties-forhomeless-iyw-trnd/index.html).
