Mixed Messages

On one episode of “The Calling,” a Christianity Today podcast, host Richard Clark interviewed pastor Tommy “Urban D” Kyllonen about his ministry in the inner-city. During the episode he shared how he learned that while he wants his church to be accessible to the people he serves, he found that playing secular music and imitating other parts of worldly culture led to confusion instead of outreach.

While inclusiveness in the Body of Christ is worth pursuing, we must take care to not identify too closely with the world around us so that our message is not compromised.
