Nations in Our Cities

Going to the nations doesn’t necessarily mean an overseas missions trip. The changing demographics of American cities offer opportunities to share the gospel with people who don’t look or think like us. In Houston, Texas, for example, way back in ancient times (1970), 62.8% of the population was white; now that number is around 25%. Houston is now considered the most diverse city in the country (Britney Majia, “How Houston Has Become the Most Diverse Place in America,” Los Angeles Times, May 9, 2017). Even rural areas are being impacted, though not as drastically (Kenneth Johnson, “Rural America Undergoing a Diversity of Demographic Change,” Population Reference Bureau, May 2006). No matter where we live, the nations are coming to us. Start sharing the gospel with your neighbors, coworkers, and friends.
