The promise Jesus gave allows us to walk with confidence knowing that he is always with us. This is especially important when life is not going as planned. Even in times of trouble, he is with us. “Footprints in the Sand” was written by Mary Stevenson in 1936 when she was fourteen years old. It is a beautiful depiction of the presence of God in our lives. Stevenson describes a dream in which she saw God’s footprints beside her only in the good times. She asks God where he was when she needed him most. God replies, “The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when I carried you.” (Mary Stevenson, “Footprints in the Sand,” 1936).
Jesus’s resurrection gives us access to power that can change not only our lives but the lives of everyone around us. And no matter how hard the road may become, we can be assured that he is with us through it all.
